Bill Gates's wife Melinda French Gates who had been a part of Bill & Melinda Gates foundation since the beginning, resigned from her position as Co-Chair of the largest charitable organisation in the world.
Melinda French Gates, the wife of Microsoft founder and also former CEO, announced that she would resign as Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, effective June 7, 2024. Melinda Gates said she was immensely proud of the foundation and everyone touched by it. She said she took the step with complete confidence thinking that the foundation would be in strong shape under CEO Mark Suzman, the Executive Leadership Team who will ensure that the work would continue. Bill Gates thanked his wife, Melinda, for her critical contributions to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from the beginning. Bill Gates said, "I am sorry to see Melinda leave, but I am sure she will have a huge impact in her future philanthropic work. " He added that Melinda helped shape the organisation's strategies and initiatives and impacted global health and gender equality.
