To resolve Securities and Exchange Commission claims that the bank unintentionally erased millions of electronic documents, making communications in a dozen probes inaccessible to regulators, JPMorgan Chase & Co. will pay a $4 million fine. The SEC said on Thursday that between January 2018 and April 2018, JPMorgan Securities destroyed 47 million electronic data, including emails and instant messaging, permanently. JPMorgan was unable to produce the needed records in eight SEC investigations and four additional regulatory examinations, according to the regulator. The SEC remained mum on whether or not the bank was the target of such actions.
