Elon Musk's Tesla has secured a new USD 200 million Megapack contract with New South Wales, Australia. Ausgrid, an Australian electricity distribution company, announced its project to deploy two major battery energy storage systems, 200 MW and 400 MW. Ausgrid announced that it would use Tesla's lithium-iron-phosphate Megapacks as a preferred technology and said that two BESS installations would provide FCAS (frequency control ancillary services) and storage and firming capacity for the grid. The electricity provider said it would push the concept via a planning process, and construction would start in mid to late 2025.
