Zomato, restaurant search and discovery service entered the good books of its users when they rolled out Zomato Gold. According to its rules, users could avail 1+1 on food or 2+2 on drinks. While that was quite a steal deal, the app-based service has changed its Zomato Gold rules. Last week, Zomato Gold informed its users that from Monday onwards, there will be a change in its Gold membership policies.

According to Zomato Gold's rules and regulations, users dining by themselves will not be able to avail of its benefits. And if there were two or three diners on the table, only one could avail of its facilities. If there are four or five diners, then two unlocks will be allowed and so on and so forth. There is still no cap on the maximum number of unlocks allowed. The release also mentioned that if there are twenty diners then ten Gold can be unlocked. Zomato Executive Adds a Roasted Fly on Biryani Order in Delhi After Woman Complains Against It

The new terms and conditions for Zomato Gold members have them fuming. Most have taken to social media to express their displeasure stating the rules were different when they had subscribed for the feature.

Some stated that Zomato can change their rules but it should be for new users and not for the existing ones who have already paid for it. Many users shared their reviews with the hashtag #zomatogoldcheater.

A user pointed out that while a user pays for the feature they themselves cannot use it as a single diner. Another stated how Zomato constantly sent them emails to invite more subscribers for the feature. When the Zomato Gold network grew, they changed the policy. The Gold feature became so popular among users that they had to make membership 'invite only'. The Zomato Gold annual membership costs Rs 1,900. People also started giving negative reviews for the app on Play Store.
