The Rewind 2018 video starts with Will Smith checking a notification about the new YouTube Rewind video. The 8-minute long video is Fortnite-inspired theme with same creators who have been featured before. The reasons for the dislikes could be that the video misses on some of the most popular YouTube content creators. Some of the biggest YouTubers including PewDiePie have also expressed their displeasure at the video. PewDiePie himself released a separate video on his channel speaking about how disappointed Rewind 2018 is. In his video, he says, "I remember Rewind [was] something that seemed like an homage to the creators that year. It was something cool to be a part of. Now it’s like I’m almost glad I’m not in it, because it’s such a cringe video at this point. It’s so disconnected with the community and its creators."

YouTube Rewind videos have been criticized in the past but this time it has received the most number of dislikes. But the record of the most disliked video on YouTube is still not broken. Justin Bieber's classic song Baby featuring Ludacris is the most disliked video with 9.7 million dislikes. But the video also had a lot of likes as compared to YouTube Rewind 2018 which has just about 2 million likes. So an average comparison states that Rewind 2018 is the most disliked video.
