While talks and debates on women's safety in public places happen at lengths, very little is done on grass root levels. A social media user, took to Twitter detailing how she was horrified to see a young boy masturbating in front of her in the first-class ladies' compartment of a Mumbai suburban train bound to Thane. While she initially thought him to be young, she was shocked by his actions. At times of rising cases of sexual harassment against women, incidents like these are further worrying. Mumbai: Taxi Driver and Auto Rickshaw Driver Booked For Masturbating in Public; Police Launches Hunt.
She tweeted, India growing to a b"E"tter ("I") place. Boarded 6:32pm local train to Thane 2day. A young boy (Age-just a nmbr) boarded 1st Class Ladies coach as me. Realised a couple of mins later, he wasn't a kid MENTALLY. (sic)" She tweeted tagging Mumbai Police and Central Railway seeking help in the matter.

She further writes, "This boy was not ready to get down even after bashing on him 2-3 times. I along with another lady had to literally chase him to get down. @Central_Railway definitely needs more safety for women in Mumbai.(sic)"

Do We Need More Police Force in Mumbai Local Trains for Women?
Talking about women's safety, she further writes, "Police guards the Mumbai Local's Ladies Coaches 9 p.m. onwards. However, today's incident proves this isn't enough for the safety of the women. This is insane. N i cant imagine a boy of that age in this kind of situation. It was horrifying. I was numb. Bt kept quite for few minutes bcoz i wanted the world to see this! (sic)"
While Mumbai local trains deploy one police officer per women's compartment after 9 pm, incidents like these which happen in day broad light questions the safety of women in public transport in the city. While this incident reached social media, there are innumerable such cases which are ignored for the better good. There is a need for the public transport system to be better equipped so that women feel safe and secure while travelling.
