Like every year, this year too, the World’s Ugliest Dog contest was held, inviting massive gathering in Petaluma, California. Various canines participated in the competition, walking the red carpet and gracing in their uniqueness in their own way. But it is the messy-haired toothless canine, Scamp the Tramp, who won hearts of the judges and with her charm, won this 2019 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. According to media reports, Scamp beat 18 other ‘ugly’ but beautiful dogs at the competition, which is held every year at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma. The contestants got to walk the red carpet and preen for their adoring fans. Reports further stated that Wild Thang, a Pekinese with beady eyes and a disturbing tongue, stood second in the competition, while the third place went to Tostito, a Chihuahua, with damaged ears and droopy tongue.

Scamp the Tramp, is an adopted street dog, owned by California-based, Yvonne Morones who won $1,500 cash price and will get to donate $1,500 to an animal shelter of her choice. The annual event, World’s Ugliest Dog, witnesses some of the ugliest dogs in the world, competing against each other. It aims to draw attention to the plight of rescue dogs and highlight the number of kill centres, where scores of canines are put down every year.
