World’s Ugliest Dog 2018 Title Goes to English Bulldog Zsa Zsa at a Contest in San Francisco
The contest is in its 30th year. It is usually held on Friday nights but organisers moved the competition to Saturday in a effort to draw a bigger audience.
Zsa Zsa, nine-year-old English bulldog has been named the winner of 2018 World’s Ugliest Dog contest in San Francisco Bay Area. Zsa Zsa was found via a pet-finding site by owner Megan Brainard of Anoka, according to a biography supplied for the contest. The competition helps organisers publicise that many pets are available for adoption, allowed owners to flaunt the imperfections of their dogs. It was held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California.
Dogs in the annual competition flaunt their imperfections – some have hairless bodies, others have lolling tongues. The dogs and their handlers walk down a red carpet and are evaluated by a panel of judges, as reported by Associated Press. “It’s a fun and silly way to advocate that all animals deserve a safe and loving home,” said Christy Gentry, a spokeswoman for the Sonoma-Marin Fair, in a release.
Zsa Zsa Won the World's Ugliest Dog Title
Other vying for the title included a blackhead-covered Chinese Crestes-Dachshund mutt, a bulldog mix with excess wrinkly skin and a Pekingese named Wild Thang. A 125-pound gentle giant Martha, a Neopolitan Mastiff with gas and a droopy face, won last year’s competition. The contest is in its 30th year. It is usually held on Friday nights but organisers moved the competition to Saturday in a effort to draw a bigger audience.
