Great Dane Zeus became the Guinness World Record's tallest male dog in 2022. Zeus who is a 3-foot-5-inch-tall dog stands over 7 feet tall on his hind legs. As per his owners, the record holder dog is currently suffering from cancer and recently had his front leg amputated on Friday to stop bone cancer from spreading to the rest of his body. Zeus is reportedly recovering after undergoing the successful surgery that removed his entire front right leg which weighed 11 pounds. Zeus' owner Brittany Davis has launched a fundraiser to help cover the great Dane's veterinary expenses. "The doctor said it couldn’t have gone better. He did so well! [sic]," Brittany Davis wrote on a GoFundMe page update. "He’s awake from the anesthesia and on a bunch of pain medicine. He will stay for the weekend but he’s doing very well and everyone loves him already! [sic]," Davis added.
As per Davis, the 3-year-old Zeus was diagnosed with bone cancer in the leg and was dealing with pain. The great Dane was given three months to live if he didn’t have the leg amputated, she added. "After surgery they put a T-shirt on patients, but they didn’t have one big enough for Zeus. So his oncologist literally gave Zeus her shirt," said Brittany Davis from Bedford, Texas. Zeus eats around 12 cups of dog food each day, with an occasional fried egg. The great Dane also loves munching on ice cubes. Because of his tall height, the Guinness World Record holder dog demands to drink water only from the kitchen sink.
