Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Patralekha, Huma Qureshi and Raj Kummar Rao have shared their half portraits on Instagram under the hashtag #WorldThalassemiaDay. The actors posted their half portraits with the accompanying text: “ Did you know that when both husband and wife have Thalassemia Minor, there is a 25% chance that their child will have Thalassemia Major and reduced life expectancy?
Today, on #WorldThalassemiaDay, by posting this picture of half my face, I am supporting the #AadhiwaliZindagiMitao movement to remind everyone to get tested for Thalassemia and prevent giving their child half a life.”
The post also comprised a Ketto link where interested people can donate money towards Thalassemia fund.
Thalassemia impacts a person’s life profoundly. Although it is a treatable disorder that can be managed with blood transfusions, people with thalassemia can suffer from severe anaemia if they don’t stick to treatment schedules.
