Popular Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sand art at Puri beach in Odisha for World No Tobacco Day. The sand art urges people to quit 'Killer Tobacco' that takes thousands of life every year. Pattnaik often creates sand art on topics on social interest and shares the pictures on social media. Tobacco is responsible for more than 1 in 10 deaths globally. According to reports, about 11.2 percent smokers worldwide are Indians. While there are various initiatives held to get people back on track, they have not proved useful.

World No Tobacco Day 2018 focus on the impact of tobacco on cardiovascular health of people around the world. The WHO campaign seeks to promote awareness on the link between tobacco and heart and other cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This year the theme is 'Tobacco breaks hearts'. For chain smokers, quitting smoking can be a challenge. It often requires professional help and rehabilitation. People also took to Twitter pointing the ill effects of tobacco on 'World No Tobacco Day'. Politicians, celebrities, influencers tweeted urging people to leave the addiction.
