World Health Day is an initiative of World Health Organisation (WHO) to bring attention to important health-related topics. It is celebrated on April 7 every year to draw people's attention to the importance of maintaining good health. World Health Assembly was held for the first time in Geneva in the year 1948 by the WHO, where it was decided that World Health Day will be celebrated annually on April 7, every year. This year, the theme of World Health Day is: 'Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere' and the slog 'Health for All'.

On its 70th anniversary, WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 and to commit concrete actions to advance #HealthForAll. Starting one World Health Day, through a series of event, WHO aims to inspire, motivate and guide UHC stakeholders to make commitments towards UHC.
