The day is also marked to show solidarity to those who have unfortunately lost their lives due to AIDS. This year the theme for World Aids Day is "Know Your Status," which emphasizes knowing one's health status for HIV. According to a recent finding, about 9.4 million people were unaware that they are HIV positive.
