Women have been judged for applying makeup since forever, while the reality is that most women apply makeup for themselves and not for anybody else's opinion. However, many times women are also subject to accusations that they are trying to hide their real face by using makeup and are giving away a false impression of having a flawless face as it looks on Instagram. In a recent case, a woman has been accused of deceiving a guy she was dating via makeup. Soon after the discovered that she was wearing make-up to cover her acne, the man wanted to stop dating her.Bride Kicks Sister out of Wedding for ‘Selfish’ Speech on Depression, Redditors Blast Her for Attention-Seeking Behaviour.

The unidentified 20-year-old woman has been accused of hiding her true skin underneath makeup by the man. The woman posted her story to Reddit and asked for advice after a guy she had been dating refused to see her again after he saw her make-up free. Redditors quickly came to defend her saying that she hadn't deceived the man by using makeup. In the now-viral Reddit post, she told the forum she suffered from hormonal acne and often had breakouts on her cheeks and chin. She went ahead to say that, "He told me that I lead him on and that I’m catfishing guys by putting makeup on. I wear makeup because I’m not the biggest fan of my acne, and because it makes me feel a bit more confident."

She explained further how on their sixth date he discovered her acne and got really uncomfortable by it. She says that he was accusing her of "leading him on" and how on their sixth date which was a camping trip, he saw her face with no makeup on. As soon as he saw her without makeup, he began to act strangely and became extremely uneasy. He treated her differently for the rest of the trip. She explained her ordeal by saying, "At first, he didn’t say anything, just looked at me a bit weird. When we were alone, he just told me that he didn’t know I had acne like that. After that, he’s been acting distant the whole trip." Soon after the trip, he accused her of "catfishing" him by hiding her real face.

However, she further explained how she considers the incident as though she "dodged a bullet." "I didn’t feel like I’ve done something inherently wrong… but at the same time, it haunts me that he thinks I’m catfishing people and I wonder if anyone else feels the same way," she wrote.

Redditors came to her rescue, immediately. One of the users wrote, "You’re definitely not catfishing anyone by wearing makeup. Acne isn’t a huge deal for normal people, and potential boyfriend sounds like a really shallow guy to break up over something like that." Another one said, "It is completely normal for women to conceal blemishes with makeup. I’m sorry he was so rude to you, but it sounds like you are dodging a bullet by not getting further involved with him."
