The video of a 90-year-old woman, Kalyani being beaten up by her granddaughter, Deepa in Kannur in North Kerala has surfaced on social media and it has gone viral. Police have registered a case and have arrested the granddaughter, after the video went viral. The video has been shot on cell phone by Deepa’s neighbours, where she is seen hitting and slapping her grandma, with her hands, chappal and even a towel.

In the heartbreaking video, hearing the nonagenarian shrieking in pain, Deepa continues to hit her more. There are two videos, one where Deepa is seen attacking her grandmother and in the second video, the victim shows her bruised marks and Deepa is seen confronting the neighbours, who are protesting against her actions.

As per reports, an official at the Kannur city police station has confirmed that a case has been registered against Deepa for assaulting the elderly woman. A complaint has also been forwarded to the State Human Rights Commission.
