A woman in Rhode Island had the fright of her life when a bear opened the door of her car. She was left trapped in her car temporarily until help arrived. The incident happened in a yard near Camp Varnum in Narragansett, Washington County. It is the second time a bear has been spotted in Narragansett. Pictures of the black bear went viral on social media after Narragansett, Rhode Island Animal Control shared them on Facebook. Bear Family Enters US Man's Car and Tries to Drive It, Photos Go Viral.

Explaining the incident, the animal control said that the bear opened her car door, but fortunately, she could shut it from inside. They added saying, "Black bears can run as fast as around 30 mph." The animal control end with a warning that reads, "Yes, it's 'cool', but it is a bear, a wild animal. Brenda McCloskey had just got into her car after finishing some yard work when the bear paid her a visit. She quickly closed the door back but couldn't lock it as the animal kept pulling it. WJAR-TV quoted her as saying, "He opened the car door halfway and I was able to close it several times but I couldn't lock it until it was completely closed so it was a tug of war for what seemed like an eternity."

She further said, "Oh he had both feet up on top of the roof of the car at one point when they got here he had one paw on the car and was biting at the door handle." Brenda somehow managed to close the door and call the police. The bear ran into the woods immediately after hearing the sound of the siren. Narragansett police said that within the last two days, there have been two confirmed black bear sightings. One of them was on Bridgetown Road, the other near Camp Varnum. In both cases, police said the bear fled into the woods after being spotted.
