Karnataka State President JD(S) HD Kumaraswamy took the oath of an MLA on Saturday. He now represents the Channapatna assembly constituency. Just as the political discussions around Kumaraswamy keep coming to fore, his personal life is a big discussion. We are referring to his second wife Radhika Kumaraswamy who was in fact on top of the google trends on the day he became Karnataka Chief Minister-designate. But the politician's second marriage was in much controversy because of bigamy. A PIL was filed to seek disqualification of the then MP of Ramanagara. Meanwhile, there are discussions about his first wife Anitha Kumaraswamy contesting from Ramanagara bypoll.

Let us understand a few things about Anitha Kumaraswamy, the first wife of HD Kumaraswamy:

  • HD Kumaraswamy married Anitha on 13 March 1986. The two have a son named Nikhil Gowda.
  • Nikhil Gowda is an Indian film actor in Kannada and Telugu films.
  • Sources in the party are now stating that HD Kumaraswamy was once in favour to field Anitha in Ramanagara. But she was then defeated by C P Yogeshwar from Channapatna. Yogeshwar is now in BJP, so it is touted that Anitha may contest from Ramanagara.

When the PIL was filed against the politician he had refused to give any comments and dismissed it calling a 'personal issue that he didn't wish to discuss.' The petitioner had submitted enough proofs by giving newspaper reports and photographs the couple. He had travelled to Mauritius with the actress and also there were reports about them spending time together at several hill stations. Both Radhika and HD did not agree nor even deny these reports. All of this being in the PIL, no cognizance was taken over it.
