Last year, Halima Aden grabbed headlines when she became the first hijab-wearing model to feature on Vogue Arabia's cover. This year, the Somali-American model has made it to the cover of British Vogue, wearing hijab, the first time in its 102-year history. The 20-year-old is the among the nine chosen models on the cover of the magazine's May issue. Its caption reads, 'New Frontiers: The models changing the face of fashion'.

The May Vogue cover is also graced by Adut Akech, Radhika Nair, Yoon Young Bae, Faretta, Fran Summers, Vittoria Ceretti, Paloma Elsesser and Selena Forrest. Internet was in all praises of the cover after Vogue shared the picture on Instagram.

In the social media post, Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful writes, "Yet as a new mood begins to take hold – one that will only enrich and enliven creativity in fashion – I also believe that the time has come for us to look forward. In short, it is a moment for Vogue to do what it has always done best: to offer a bold vision of what the future can – and should – look like."

Here is British Vogue's May issue cover:

"Like so many industries in recent months, fashion has found itself at an important crossroads. At the world’s great design houses, at photographic studios, at fashion weeks and in the offices of magazines such as mine at #BritishVogue, crucial questions have been asked about working practices, safety and respect. Stock has been taken and safeguards to the way we operate have been made..." editor-in-chief @Edward_Enninful writes in his editor's letter for May Vogue. "Yet as a new mood begins to take hold – one that will only enrich and enliven creativity in fashion – I also believe that the time has come for us to look forward. In short, it is a moment for Vogue to do what it has always done best: to offer a bold vision of what the future can – and should – look like." Last year, Aden had said that she hoped that one-day people will see women wearing hijabs as part of the norm. American Eagle had teamed up with Aden to launch denim hijabs. The Minnesota-based model was born in Kenyan refugee camp and shifted to the United States when she was six.

The fashion world is on a stead changing with confident models challenging set norms of the industry. Gones are days when only lean models walked down ramps. Inclusivity being the key, models of all shapes, color, ethnicity, and race grace the runway today.
