The viral hoax, Momo Challenge, that took the internet by storm, after appearing on several online games, scaring the children and teenagers, is ready for its debut in the big screen. According to the latest updates, the creepy looking character, will star in one horror films, the details of which are yet to be explored. This has made to the international headlines, with people speculating if the film will have any negative impact on the younger generation. As per Deadline, the project will bring back the pair Taka Ichise and Roy Lee, which previously worked together on The Grudge and The Ring Franchise. Besides, Lee has also produced the highest grossing horror hit, It and the upcoming sequel, It: Chapter 2. The untitled film will be developed in partnership with Vertigo Entertainment. The report further adds that the film will expand on the nature of the story in the digital age. The freaky-looking Momo, was created by Japanese artist Keisuke Aiso, which became infamous after reports in 2018 hinted suicidal tendencies and other self-harm activities among children because of the sculpture. It further made appearances and resurfaced in 2019 on various online games and YouTube videos, scaring the teenagers to perform dangerous stunts. However, researchers claimed that Momo challenge was not particularly widespread and no children hurt themselves because of it. The challenge was essentially a hoax, and fear of it turned Momo, the creepy-looking woman into a viral sensation.
