An elephant calf accidentally stumbled its way and fell into a well on a rubber plantation at a village in East Thailand. But thanks to the efforts by a group of villagers, he is now reunited with his mother. The villagers worked till early hours to get the calf out. He was struggling to keep his head above water in the well.

The villagers used a mechanical digger to get him out. The little one kept crying and the villagers rushed to find him stuck inside. They excavated the well to make way for his rescue. Moreover, the helpless mother herself touched an electric fence and crashed down. She was in shock but recovered soon. It was a three-hour long rescue operation which finally united the calf with his worried mother. Both the baby and mother than walked away in the nearby forest. 'There are a lot of wild elephants in the area so we're used to this. But I was woken up because I heard the mother elephant was showing distress," said Siriman Sripen, 29, who lives near the well, to the Daily Mail. She then called the wildlife staff for help. A team of 15 members came there and got a digger so that they could get the calf out.

Elephants are very common to spot in the part of Chantaburi province. In fact, they come to the farms and destroy the crops, which is why the locals use electric fences to protect from the wild tuskers. This mother and baby elephant too must have lost their way and the baby could've lost his way in the dark. The villagers, however, could not neglect the baby's cries and helped in rescuing the fellow.
