London, August 11: Fugitive Indian businessman Vijay Mallya, whose penchant for a good life is no secret, continues to live a "golden" life, even as Indian government and authorities are trying to get him extradited for allegedly owing Rs 9,000 crore to Indian banks as unpaid dues.

According to a report in business newspaper, The Economic Times,  author James Crabtree, who is also an associate professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School, on his visit to Mallya's home (manor), discovered that the liquor baron has "a toilet of Gold," complete with a golden rim and gold on top, said the author at an event in Mumbai, this week. He also mentioned how Mallya was sad about the fact that he would have to watch the Monaco Grand Prix from home on TV and not from the venue itself.

On July 6, in a setback for former Kingfisher Airlines owner Vijay Mallya, a ruling by a UK judge allowed for his home to be searched and his assets seized in order to recover the money he owes banks in India in unpaid loans.

But a month later, in a setback for Indian agencies and a huge relief for Vijay Mallya, the Westminster Magistrate's Court which heard the final set of arguments in Vijay Mallya's extradition case, on July 31, asked the Indian government to submit videos of the barack in Arthur Road Jail where it intends to imprison the former liquor baron. The court, while granting bail to Mallya, asked the Indian side represented by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to submit video evidence by September 12 to allay the apprehension of human rights' violation raised by the defence counsel.
