A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr village was inhumanly beaten up by her husband in public on a village diktat for eloping with another man. Following a video, which went viral , police has lodged a complaint against 20 members of the Panchayat in connection to the diktat.

According to a report on NDTV, the woman was tied by the hands to the tree and was beaten mercilessly. The shocking part was, while there were hundreds of people standing near her, but no one stepped in to help her. They acted as mere spectators doing nothing, while the woman wailed in pain.

Check the video where the husband is mercilessly beating his wife in public:

Reportedly, a village panchayat had ordered the beating of the woman because she was suspected of having an affair. Her crime and punishment were decided by the panchayat - in one of the countless kangaroo courts that populate India's countryside. Imagine the gravity of the law and order situation  and the condition of women, in our country, as this gruesome incident took place just 60 kms from New Delhi. Another similar incident happened few days back, where a  video of a 90-year-old woman, Kalyani being beaten up by her granddaughter, Deepa in Kannur in North Kerala surfaced on social media. Post the video went viral, the attacker was arrested.
