Mumbai, January 4: A woman in the US has managed to pull off one of the greatest revenge in history that does not involve physical harm. The woman claimed she got revenge on her cheating ex-boyfriend by reporting him to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for unpaid taxes. And the cherry on top, she managed to pocket a reward in the process too.
According to Distractify, Ava Louise, an OnlyFans model, claimed in a viral TikTok video that she got back at her cheating ex-boyfriend by reporting his tax fraud to the IRS and receiving a hefty reward. She said she collected over 100k dollars and spent it while he faced prison time. She called it a manifestation of "female rage". The video has more than 3.8 million views and many supportive comments. Woman Quits Job Over Toxic Work Culture, Changes Everyone's Passwords in Bittersweet Revenge.
However, her story may not be entirely true. The IRS Whistleblower Office pays people who expose tax evasion, but only if certain criteria are met. The tax evader must owe more than 2 million dollars and earn more than 200,000 dollars a year. The whistleblower must also wait until the IRS collects the money and the tax evader exhausts all legal options. This can take years, as Forbes reported. Moreover, most tax evaders do not go to jail but face civil penalties such as liens and levies. Forbes also said that the IRS paid only 132 awards in 2022, totalling 37.8 million dollars. The largest award ever paid was 104 million dollars to Bradley Birkenfeld, a banker who exposed how UBS Group AG helped wealthy Americans dodge taxes.
