A 21-year-old performing arts student who is a YouTube sensation revealed that she earns over Rs 56.2 lakh annually with her videos. Sophie Michelle from Chester, Cheshire in the United Kingdom is known for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) videos and is quite popular among her fans. Most of her whispering videos have over 2.5 million views. Sophie launched her ASMR channel in June 2017 after discussing the idea with her boyfriend Matthew and is today the most popular 'ASMR artist' in the world.
She told Ladbible, "Even though I knew the impact ASMR had, I never expected my channel to become popular. I was only on 30,000 subscribers last Christmas and was close to giving up, because I wasn't getting anywhere. But in the January after it completely blew up after one of my videos about hypnosis got 2.5 million views - I was so shocked that so many people loved it. What is ASMR?
ASMR is said to be one of the solutions for people have troubles with sleeping. According to a study by the University of Sheffield, people who experience classing tingles have a reduced heart rate while watching ASMR videos and show an increase in positive emotions. Sophie says, "I fell in love with it and it helped me sleep so much easier. I started using it during the day as well just to calm down when I felt anxious and it really helped."

Talking about finding ASMR she said, "In 2015, my 24-year-old brother, James, who has recovered now, developed a brain tumour. The stress and anxiety made me search online for videos that would help me sleep. I came across the usual rain and ambient sounds on YouTube, but then I found ASMR as a suggested video." She is currently doing a degree in theatre, TV and performing arts. The availability of the internet has given rise to an array of jobs which did not exist ten years down the line. Bloggers, vloggers, YouTubers, Instagrammers are today able to make a living with showcasing their talent online.
