Punctuality is a virtuous value to inculcate but not everyone is able to follow it. A recent video which has been going viral will shock you at the attitude of a UK Minister towards being punctual. Michael Bates, minister at the Department for International Development recently offered his resignation in the House of Lords because he was late! Yes, it is true. Can you even remotely imagine if any of our parliament members took such a step?
During the Parliamentary session, Lord Bates missed a question which was for him, since he entered late. But while he apologized he spoke how he was "ashamed of not being in his place" and then offered his resignation and walked away. The entire Lords members were in disbelief at his announcement and shouted "no" as he continued to walk away. Some members even tried to pull him back. Well, something like this is bound to go viral and people on the internet cannot believe the minister actually thinking of taking such a step. His resignation, however, was not accepted and termed as 'unnecessary.'

While he did what he did, Twitteratti had found a new icon for making jokes.
We all need to...
If this was how I reacted to lateness, I would have to resign from life. #alwayslateforeverything #lordbates https://t.co/Q1KfgfNrql

Much honour to this gentleman
What a truly honourable gentleman, setting a sterling example, perhaps more should follow his integrity. Hat's off to #LordBates & true Northerner. https://t.co/AoTmQbn1W6

What Lord Bates did was quite marvellous and come to think of it we definitely need more people like him, who do not resign in immediate effect but hold the value of punctuality in such high regard. How many of Indian politicians can take a lesson from this?
