Lilly Gaddis, a popular TikTok user known for posting ‘trad wife’ or traditional wife content, faced a lot of criticism for her recent actions. In one of the videos posted by her on social media, she casually uses the n-word along with other racial slurs and slang. The video quickly garnered millions of views for all the wrong reasons before it was taken down from the social media platform. Her employer, Rophe of the Carolinas, a black female-run and immigrant-owned company, noticed the video and immediately terminated her employment. In a public statement, the company made it clear that it does not support or condone Lilly’s behaviour. The incident even started a bigger talk about taking responsibility for one’s actions and the effects of social media. Her video faced a lot of criticism for its racial slurs. However, in response to all the criticism she received online, Lilly remains unapologetic, as seen in a recent interview given by her. In the video, she appears to defend her use of offensive language and is not apologetic for the words she used. She says she simply chose to speak her mind. She also released a fake apology video on social media where she said that after all the backlash, she did a deep dive and a real soul search and found that she does not care about the issue. Since then, she has posted a series of tweets boasting about her new attention, including one where she used the slur again. Lilly has not apologised for her comments. In her posts, she even sarcastically thanks the black community for boosting her career. This attitude has only intensified the criticism against her.
