Search engine giant, Google revealed how in the past year, the world searched for “The First Woman,” more than ever! It couldn’t be any better time than to honour the ‘firsts’ whose achievements opened the door for many.

March is a significant month for women across the world. It is Women’s History Month, and on March 8, we celebrate International Women’s Day. The whole month is dedicated to women, their revolutionary role in history and current achievements that have shattered all the stereotypes. Search engine giant, Google revealed how in the past year, the world searched for “The First Woman,” more than ever! It couldn’t be any better time than to honour the ‘firsts’ whose achievements opened the door for many. Hence, to observe Women’s History Month 2021, Google is celebrating the ‘firsts’ who paved the ways for many.

Whether in politics, sciences, athletics, arts or anything else, women have driven society forward throughout history. Over the last year, when the world was dealing with a virus, they also looked to trailblazing women who overcame the obstacles of their time, to do what had never been done before. Take a look at how Google celebrates the ‘firsts’ who have created a remarkable legacy for the generations that follow.

Marie Curie—the first woman to win the Nobel Prize. She won the prize in Physics in 1903 and in Chemistry in 1911, making her the first woman ever to win the prize and also the first person to win it twice. Google revealed, in 2020, “women in science,” was searched at an all-time high around the world as women scientists dominated the field that had historically excluded them. Despite all the obstacles, the search engine giant notes that as of 2020, 23 of the 622 Nobel Prizes awarded in the sciences have gone to women.

Gitanjali Rao—Time Magazine’s first-ever Kid of the Year for her work using technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying.

Madam C.J. Walker, born Sarah Breedlove, is one of the first women in the world to earn more than 1 million USD through a business she founded in 1910, the “Madam C. J. Her climb inspired many mountaineers. Google noted that in the last 50 years, “more than 700 women have climbed Mt.
