With the rising cases of suicides and bouts of depression among the younger generation, there are talks about mental health. People are urging others to talk and share about their problems. But as easy at it sounds, some are still not comfortable to open up about it to anyone. A teenager from Sunderland in England decided to tackle the problem in her own way and she has conquered hearts with her actions. Paige Hunter, an 18-year old wrote notes to strangers, who might be struggling with their problems and have suicidal thoughts. She put up hopeful messages and notes on a bridge in her city which is a popular suicide spot and has prevented 6 people from taking a leap into death!

She decided to reach out to those who may not have anyone anonymously. The college student also works as a sales assistant in a local shop. Whenever she has spare time, she writes notes and hopeful messages to the disheartened ones who come to Sunderland’s Wearmouth Bridge, a suicide spot in her city. She has stuck forty notes on the bridge which have inspiring messages. She started this project out of sheer love. How To Stop Suicides: Spot Warning Signs and Risk Factors Before It's Too Late.

The local police department has honoured her for her helpful contribution that would be serving hope to several people who are tackling with negative thoughts. Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Sarah Pitt recently presented Paige with a framed commendation certificate. Pitt said, "We thought it was important to applaud the work Paige has been doing and the help she has given those in Sunderland who are going through a mental health crisis. Paige has shown an incredible understanding of vulnerable people in need of support, and this is an innovative way to reach out to those in a dark place."

When asked about her good work, Paige was very humble and said she was not doing it for any award but she has made the change she desired. " I just want to help people and I’ve been told it’s already helped save six lives." Looking at her work, many more are encouraged to reach out and support those who need help. She has got an amazing response to her efforts which only motivates her to do more of it.
