Here is how Twitterati reacted:
Mrs Swaraj, I can not imagine anybody doing this job of EAM half as good as you did.
Your absence would be felt not just in India, but across the globe among Indians. You are an inspiration.
Thank you for serving us. We Indians were lucky to have you.

You’ll be remembered as a great human being by thousands of Indians — many in distress — whose lives you directly touched, and as the country’s best EAM till date by millions of Indians. Thanks for all the good work madam.

Sushma Swaraj over the last five years became quite popular on social media for her efforts in helping Indians stuck across the world. So much so that even a minister from the Opposition praised her efforts. AAP's Bhagwant Maan had said, "I want to thank Sushma Swaraj ji. She is doing an exceptionally good job to save our people abroad."
Swaraj has co-ordinated with various foreign governments in bringing Indians stuck in different countries due to passport, visa or similar issues. She has made headlines multiple times in the past for bringing back people to safety from torture and troublesome scenarios. Over time, she became known for acting on people's plea to her on Twitter regarding their foreign travels. Her largest rescue was 'Operation Raahat' in which within a short span of time, 1,947 foreign nationals and 4,741 Indians were rescued by air and sea routes through war-torn Yemen.
