Twitter has been buzzing with the hashtag #StopWomenTrafficking today, where people are demanding a ban on the website- Staylaid.com, which looks like an escort service site. The website promotes one-night stand with women, who comes at a dirt cheap rate, from all the nooks and corners of the country. The site claims that these women have 'voluntarily signed for the service while, others have been procured from remote areas of India such as Assam and West Bengal by trusted brokers and promised big dreams. By procuring them you are helping their dreams in the city come true.' People on Twitter are demanding a ban on the website and have expressed their shock and disgust, citing ethical grounds and the existence of such websites completely illegal.

However, to everyone's surprise, it is a marketing gimmick from StayUncle, a hotel booking website in India for both married and unmarried couples. Once you enter your email id on Staylaid, you will receive a mail from StayUncle thanking users for visiting their fake website, Staylaid. The intention of the campaign, is to highlight that a whopping 20,000 Indian women and children were forced into sex slavery in India. Bonded labor and the movement of sex trafficking victims may occasionally be facilitated by corrupt officials who protect brothels that exploit victims and protect traffickers and brothel keepers from arrest and other threats of enforcement.
