In a horrifying incident of its kind, a farmer from the southern city of Pyeongtaek in South Korea abducted and killed his neighbour's dog irritated by its constant barking. The brutality did not end there, he cooked the Welsh corgi for dinner and invited the unsuspecting owner to join him. The incident came to light only after another neighbour narrated it. The incident sparked outrage after the pet owner's daughter took to social media about it. She posted an online plea seeking support to ensure the farmer gets punished. The petition has gained almost 15,000 signatures so far.

Police said he admitted to committing the heinous crime. The farmer said that he threw stones at the dog after which it lost consciousness. He then strangled the dog and cooked it. He thereafter acted innocent and even condoled the family as their pet was missing.

Daily Mail quoted the girl's post which read, "We had been all around the town, handing out leaflets containing the dog’s picture, phone number and rewards of £660 (1m won), in order to find the missing dog."

"When I reached the man's house, which is just three doors down from ours, he expressed sympathy, promising to let us know if he found the dog. He even invited neighbours to come share the dog meat, including my father who did not accept the invitation as he is a non-dog meat eater."

While dog meat is a part of South Korea's cuisine, it has been declining as more people have started the animal as pets. According to a new law passed in the country, people caught abusing animals can face up to two years in jail or Rs 12 lakh fine.
