Hyderabad, January 25: In a shocking incident, a young man was badly smashed when a speeding train approached alongside the railway tracks while he posed for a perfect selfie. The man, identified as Shiva has suffered serious head injuries as he was knocked down while trying to take the daring shot.

In a video that went viral on social media, the man is seen recording himself with the front camera of his smartphone as an MMTS train approaches alongside the railway track.  The man was seen smiling into his smartphone camera and kept his right arm pointed at the approaching train. The video ended with a thud as the young man was badly knocked down by the train.

Reports state that the deadly incident took place near Borabanda MMTS Railway Station. During the final moments of the video, the train appears to hit the man violently in the face, with commotion around. Railway officials said that despite the bad collision, Shiva survived the accident with minor injuries, the railway officials said.

Despite the seemingly severe impact of the collision, Siva survived the accident with minor injuries, the railway officials said. According to a press release from South Central Railway, the victim had persisted on capturing the video despite a home guard warning him about the approaching train. The home guard then produced him before the Railway Police after the collision.  Bharatnagar Railway Protection Inspector Sudhakar Rao was quoted by The Hindu saying, “He was booked and penalised ₹500. Despite the severity of the impact in the video, he escaped largely unhurt as the loco pilot applied the emergency brakes and slowed the train”.

To recall, Mumbai police marked over a dozen "no-selfie zones" in 2016. In India, posing with a train is a commonly seen stunt, leading to fatalities. As per report, 60 per cent of all "selfie deaths" took place in India between March 2014 and September 2016,
