Sherlock Star Benedict Cumberbatch's Real Life Heroic Act Saves Cyclist From Attack
Benedict reportedly ran towards the victim shouting "leave him alone"
"Avengers: Infinity War" star Benedict Cumberbatch is being showered with praises for saving a cyclist in central London. Cumberbatch was in an Uber with wife Sophie Hunter when they saw a man being hit on the head with a bottle. The 41-year-old actor reportedly ran towards the victim shouting "leave him alone". His presence of mind is said to have saved the man from suffering any serious injuries. The incident is said to have happened near Baker Street where 'Sherlock Holmes' lives.
Reportedly, there were four men who also tried to attack Cumberbatch as he tried to save the man. During the meddle, one of them tried to steal the man's bike, but eventually could not.
PTI quoted Uber driver Manuel Dias as saying, "Then it all got a bit surreal. Here was Sherlock Holmes fighting off four attackers just around the corner from Baker Street. I had hold of one lad and Benedict another. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He was very brave. He did most of it, to be honest."
"They tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn't injured. Then I think they also recognised it was Benedict and ran away." After the incident, Dias said the actor embraced the cyclist. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed the incident. The victim did not need hospital treatment. No arrests have been made in the incident.
