A physician who has been voted 'Sexiest Doctor Alive' recently saved the life of a passenger during a flight to Israel. Matt Faraco from Atlanta in Georgia was onboard a Delta flight on June 30 from New York City to Tel Aviv on Birthright when his hands began to swell. Dr Mikhail Varshavski from New York who is known by his YouTube name, Doctor Mike was also on the same flight. He immediately sprung into action and administered a solution from Delta's first aid kid after which Matt could breathe freely again. Good Samaritan! Matt did not know what caused the reaction in his body. He also had some allergy symptoms a night before, but as it was nothing serious, he did not consult the doctor. Later, doctors found out that Matt had been bitten by a lone star tick making him allergic to meat. The incident occurred right after his first meals on the plane which contained meat.

Matt's hands began to swell and couldn't eat or drink anything other than water. Mikhail, a family physician who practices in New Jersey was quoted as saying, "When he first came up to me, he told me he had steroids and Benadryl, which I recommended he take first." Indian Doctor Helps Ghananian Teenager Who Couldn't Walk After Spine-Crushing Accident.

Daily Mail quoted Mikhail as saying, "The only problem is it's not dosed for an anaphylactic shock and you could easily mistakenly double or triple the dosage. It could be toxic to him, to the heart, and it could give him a heart attack." The doctor asked for EpiPen, as it was not available, the crew handed over epinephrine and a large needle. Had there been no epinephrine solution, the plane would have had to make an emergency landing.

Mikhail was travelling to Tel Aviv as part of America's Voices in Israel when the incident happened. A few days after when Matt recovered, the duo coincidentally met at a hospital in Jerusalem. Mikhail said that it should be a learning moment for all airlines to carry EpiPen onboard. He said, "I can't believe on aeroplanes, which is an enclosed space and food is being shared, that there is not an EpiPen. I had to take time to sit and read the instructions, break off the plastic cover on top of the needle, while an EpiPen is made to be used very quickly and that's something a layperson can give."
