Selfie Craze Claims Another Life in India: Boy Falls off Over Bridge, Dies in Jamshedpur
India has had the highest number of selfie-related deaths according to a past study.
Jamshedpur, February 11: In a quest for perfect selfie, a minor boy fell to death from an overbridge on Domuhani river under Sonari police station, police sources said. The 13-year-old boy identified as Md Tanzir, a resident of Azadnagar under Azadnagar police station, along with his three friends was taking a selfie on the newly-built overbridge when he lost control and fell down, police said. The boy was rushed to Tata Main Hospital with the help of locals but the doctors declared him brought dead, sources said. Confirming the report, Officer-in-charge of the police station, Anuj Kumar said the boy was shifted to the hospital before police reached the spot. "We are gathering details to investigate the incident," he added.
India has had the highest number of selfie-related deaths according to a past study. The research found that between March 2014 and September 2016, 60 percent of all “selfie deaths”, where a person dies while trying to take a picture of themselves, occurred in India.
