The nightlife of Mumbai is under strict measures following the unfortunate fire incident at Kamala Mills in December 2017. Post the incident, several high-end restaurants and small-time joints felt the axe for not abiding by the safety norms. Another freak incident took place in another nightclub Tamasha wherein someone used a pepper spray, endangering lives! Pepper spray was used on customers who were dancing at the venue and within time people started complaining of irritation and breathlessness. The place had to be evacuated and the people were rushed to the restaurant's courtyard. The incident took place on Saturday night, March 24, in Lower Parel.

Priyank Sukhija, the club's owner said while talking to newspapers that the nightclub being on the ground floor, it was easier to evacuate the people. "The staff immediately checked the kitchen, thinking it was an electric spark or that the exhaust system had stopped working. After everything was ruled out, we realised that somebody had used a pepper spray on the sly," he said. The doors and windows of the place were opened and air conditioning was switched off. There were about 350 to 400 people present here but thankfully all were safe. It took about 20 minutes to normalise the situation.

A complaint has been registered with the local police to find the person and CCTV footage is shared with them. Senior inspector of NM Joshi Marg police station Ahmad Pathan said, "We have received a complaint from the restaurant and have asked the fire department to look into it and tell us what exactly happened." The probe to find the miscreant is going on.

The incident once again brings to light the security measures at nightclubs and hotels. The club has now installed a metal detector at the entrance and hired male and female bouncers for security check. Now pepper sprays which are supposed to be a safety measure will no more be allowed to carry inside the nightclubs as incidents like these definitely play with the lives of many others.
