A grey seal was found to be severely injured by a plastic frisbee stuck around its neck. The marine animal was nursed back to health and was released back into the sea at Norfolk’s Horsey Beach. About a year ago, another seal was released at the same spot, who too was found with a frisbee around its neck. The rising pollution and plastics entering into the sea is badly damaging the marine ecosystem. This seal named Pinkafo was another showcase of what human plastic waste is doing to marine life. Pinkafo was caught at the Waxham Beach in December last year. The Atlantic grey female seal was then taken to the RSPCA's centre at East Winch near King's Lynn. The plastic frisbee stuck around its neck had deeply injured the animal and it was infected. Volunteers from Friends of Horsey Seals rescued the poor animal. After tending to her and recovery of her health, they released it back into the sea. Working USB Found From Seal's Poop! Scientists From New Zealand are Looking For its Owner.

It took about 4 months for Pinkafo to fully recover. She was given full veterinary treatment including antibiotics, pain relief and regular salt baths. The injury is healed well to let her into the sea and the salts in the water will help her to cure. Alison Charles of the East Winch Wildlife Centre said, "Pinkafo has had a long difficult road to recovery, so it is wonderful to see her bound back into the sea where she belongs." The seal was very subdued when found by the team, the pieces from the frisbee were stuck in her neck. But gradually with medication, she improved and has finally gone back into the environment where she belongs.
