Santa Claus With Plastic Bottles! Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Attempts World Record on 2018 Christmas Eve Creating Environmental Awareness
Plastic pollution is one of the major problems the Earth is currently facing.
On Christmas Eve, international sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created an artwork of Santa Claus on the sand keeping in focus an environmental issue. The World record attempt is made with plastic bottles trying to spread the awareness of plastic pollution. Tweeting a picture of the Santa, Pattnaik took to Twitter saying, "Are you #readytochange to save Mother Earth? Please join me in spreading the word. I have attempted another World record on the eve of #Christmas through installation of the biggest #SantaClaus on Sand with Plastic bottles with the message #BeatPlasticPollution."
Plastic pollution is one of the major problems the Earth is currently facing. Last year, the sand arts created the "world's biggest" sand Santa face with the message "World Peace" on the Puri beach of Odisha on Christmas Eve. With an aim to enter the Limca Book of World record, the sand art was of 25 feet high and 50 feet wide. A sand sculpture of Jesus Christ was also created in front of it using 600 tonnes of sand. Last month, Pattnaik welcomed the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup by creating a sand sculpture at Puri Beach in Odisha. Depicting a traditional boat the message on it read, 'Welcome to Odisha, Hockey Men's World Cup 2018'. Pattnaik often creates different sand art marking various festivals and occasions. He also tries to spread various social messages including environmental issues through his artworks. Earlier this month, Odisha played host to International Sand Art Festival held by the Orissa Tourism Department. Contestants from across countries participated in the sand art festival held at Chandrabhaga Beach.
