Famous fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee took the internet by storm last night not for his designs but an appalling post to sell his new bridal collection. Mukherjee incurred the wrath of the internet for his viral Instagram post in which he describes, women if overdressed are “bleeding inside.” The post which seems to be an endorsement for his jewellery brand created a rage among the netizens, who continued to slam the designer. In his apology, Sabyasachi said that his comment was “intended as a message of love and empathy,” and that “it wasn’t articulated correctly.” Taking the responsibility of putting such misogynistic statement, the fashion designer wrote, “I acknowledge the feedback we have received regarding the statements made in our recent Instagram presentation. We hear you and although it was intended as a message of love and empathy and a call to look beyond exterior appearances, it wasn't articulated correctly. I understand that it does not convey the message appropriately at all and for that, I would like to accept blame and offer an unconditional apology.”

Soon after his Instagram post, Sabyasachi’s comment section was flooded with replies from his fans, who slammed him and called the marketing approach extremely ‘misogynistic,’ ‘ignorant’ and ‘sexist’. The celebrity designer is Bollywood’s favourite but surely no women or men would have ever expected him to make such atrocious comment.
