Women's day which is celebrated on 8th March, we see big brands and labels wishing Women all around the world a happy women's day in ways as creative as possible. Sabyasachi, the Indian fashion giant, too took on to Instagram to wish the world on the day dedicated to women. However, it didn't go as planned for them. Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee collaborated with a plus-size model to create a women's day post to wish all the women and also send out a message of 'self-confidence', however, it didn't work out for him as he would have expected because it left the women wondering that a plus-sized model sporting a lehenga from his collection is not they usually get to see on his pages. Moreover, with a message of 'self-confidence,' particularly on women's day, with a plus-sized model seemed like he didn't perceive the plus-sized model fit for the rest of the year. Divyanka Tripathi Goes on a Rant After Diet Sabya Called Her Out for Plagiarising Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s Iconic Belt!

He shared two women's day wish photographs with the caption that read, "This International Women's Day, celebrate confidence," reviews were mixed, some loved what Sabyasachi shred whereas many criticised him for the message he chose to share on women's day.

Take a look at the post:

"So every other day of the year you post pics of skinny women, on women's day the photo of a not so skinny lady... where was this pretty lady the remaining 364 days?" an Instagram user commented and many other similar comments pointed out his ignorance of gender issues for the rest of the year. Somebody else commented, "I do not understand why you have to use a non-conventional model from the ones that you use on your regular ads and caption it as ‘portray self-confidence’? Something doesn’t feel right with this. Are you trying to say the unconventional models according to you are supposed to ooze confidence but they don't and since it’s women’s day you are urging them to? What made you think that women of all shapes sizes and colour do not have confidence?" and many other such comments raised some serious questions on his problematic choice of picture particularly for women day to talk about ‘self-confidence’ because it seemed like he was implying that only plus-size models need more encouragement. People wondered if he was trying to say that non-conventional models need confidence".

Here's the second women's day post by Sabyasachi:

Talking about 'self-confidence' only on Women’s Day, did leave many of the Instagram followers questioning. Wondering what Sabyasachi would have to say.
