Richard Dawkins is NOT Stephen Hawking! Biologist Complain About People Mistaking Him For Cosmologist

The 76-year-old tweeted raising concerns over young scientists and TV producers mixing up the names of the two professors.

World-renowned Professor Stephen Hawking passed away on Wednesday at his Cambridge home. However, not everyone seems to have understood it. British evolutionary biologist and atheist writer Richard Dawkins took to Twitter stating that people are mistaking him for Hawking. The 76-year-old tweeted raising concerns over young scientists and TV producers mixing up the names of the two professors.

The controversial author also tweeted saying, "Many excellent young science graduates would give their all for a job in television. So where did a leading TV company find the 'Editorial Producer' who just invited me 'to talk to us about the life and legacy of your colleague Richard Hawkins'?" On the micro-blogging site, he also shared an anecdote when Prince Philip made "the same mistake when presenting Professor Hawking with a big medal".

Following the tweets, people shared how there have been worse cases of mistaking people due to rhyming surnames. Here are the tweets:

He also added saying, "Now another TV producer wants me to talk about 'the death of Professor Hawkins'." He also wrote that he was once asked why he isn't in his wheelchair. Professor Hawking who was diagnosed with motor neuron disease which gradually confined him to a wheelchair until death.

The British physicist was also the subject of the 2014 film 'The Theory Of Everything'. While Hawking is popular for his science book 'A Brief History of Time' on cosmology, Dawkins wrote the well-known book The God Delusion, published in 2006. The late Stephen Hawking is also a recipient of the honorary award, the Noble Prize.
