A CCTV video has captured the moment a woman put broken glass in her mouth staging a choke. Footage from the incident shows the woman putting a hand inside her top and pulling out something. She then puts it in her mouth and acts as if she choked on something. The CCTV footage shows the woman coughing making the woman reach out to her to help. Reportedly, she complained to the restaurant staff that she choked on the broken glass pieces present in her food. However, Vintners Federation of Ireland Pubs which is a representative body of pub owners took to YouTube and Twitter sharing the video, revealing the truth. In a similar incident in, a man in China was arrested for putting a dead rat in his food to blackmail a restaurant.

Vivian Carroll, the owner of the restaurant, told Irish Mirror, "It's clear from the footage that after hiding glass in her clothes, this person then deliberately places it in her mouth. She told a member of staff that the glass was in her food, which was obviously not the case." He further said, "We checked the CCTV footage and told her the entire incident had been recorded. The Gardai were called, they took her details and she left. But if it wasn't for security cameras I could possibly have faced a massive claim."

Padraig Cirbben, chief executive of Vintner's Federation of Ireland told Mirror as saying, "The so-called 'compo culture' stems from the fact that people think they can get away with making outrageous insurance claims, a belief supported and encouraged by some within the legal sector and facilitated by insurers settling dubious claims."
