Real Life 'Orphan'! Adopted 'Child' Abandoned by US Couple Actually a Murderous 22-Year-Old Woman With Dwarfism!

A couple who has been accused of abandoning the girl they adopted said that she was actually a 22-year-old woman who looked like a child. Not only that; the couple said that she was a murderous sociopath who tried killing her family.  The couple Kristine Barnett and her ex-husband Michael Barnett adopted Ukranian girl, Natalia Grace who suffered from dwarfism in 2010. In 2013, Kristine abandoned her in a flat in Indiana and moved to Canada. Police have now charged the couple with two counts of neglect of Natalie who was a dependent. They were later released on bail. Kristine said that Natalia is actually 22-year-old and was eight at the time of adoption. She said that the woman pretended to be a child while she was a fully grown woman. The parents realised that she had periods, pubic hair and permanent teeth. After reports of the couple abandoning the child went viral, Kristine told Daily Mail: "The media is painting me to be a child abuser but there is no child here. Natalia was a woman. She had periods. She had adult teeth. ‘She never grew a single inch, which would happen even with a child with dwarfism. The doctors all confirmed she was suffering a severe psychological illness only diagnosed in adults. She was jumping out of moving cars. She was smearing blood on mirrors. Kristine who is a mother of three said that Natalia even threatened to kill her family members. She one put bleach in her coffee and even hide hard objects around the house. Following such incidents, Kristine approached a doctor who ordered a bone density test to know her exact age. The results stated that she was at least more than 14 years of age.

Once she even dragged Kristine into an electric fence following which they placed her in a long-term state-run psychiatric unit in 2012. That is when she finally revealed her original age. The family then successfully applied to Marion County Superior Court to get Natalia's age-corrected so that she could receive the appropriate psychiatric treatment. Following which, Judge Gerald S. Zore accepted the couple’s allegations as "true." Natalie's year of birth was revised to 1989. The family then set up a flat for her where she lived alone and they paid her rent. They also get her social security number and helped with other daily necessities.

In 2012, the Michael and Kristine appeared on 60 Minutes talking about their then 13-year-old son Jake, who has Asperger’s syndrome. Kristine had also published a book around the same time called The Spark: A Mother’s Story of Nurturing, Genius, and Autism.
