A mysterious deep sea creature washed up on Oregon beach last month. Scientists found out that it was a rare robust club hook squid. The eight-legged squid measured 10 feet long and weighed around 90 pounds. Beachgoers discovered the squid near Silver Point, south of Cannon Beach. The Aquarium will dissect and examine the squid to learn more about its habits.

The squid's beak which remained intact has specifically garnered more interest among researchers. It had two long tentacles and eight arms, each containing an average of 50 to 60 suckers.

Seaside Aquarium shared pictures of the rare squid on Facebook and wrote, "It had been dead for a little while and some scavenging had occurred but all in all it was in pretty good shape. The club hook squid is the third largest squid species, reach a maximum length of about 12 feet. Little is know about the life history of these amazing giants, so we were very excited to be able to get a closer look." Dead Baby Blue Whale Washes Ashore on Kamakura Beach in Japan
