New Delhi, August 28: The Ministry of Railways on Tuesday found a funny way to warn passengers about the hazards of trying to spend time in a stationary wagon or coach. The hilarious warning image shared by the Ministry of Railways on Twitter shows a young couple sitting on the railway tracks under a goods wagon. The official handle of the Ministry of Railways then tells passengers to “stay alert” and “stay safe.”
The “romantic” image used by the ministry of railways to drive home the point is akin to killing two birds with one stone. While on one hand it warns passengers not to sit under stationary goods wagon, on the other hand it warns passengers to stay off the tracks.

Nearly 50,000 people have lost their lives between 2015-2018 on railway tracks after being hit by trains, said a report by news agency PTI. A total of 49,790 deaths were reported between 2015-2017. Deaths on railway tracks occur due to trespassing, violating safety and cautionary instructions, avoiding over bridges, using mobile phones and other electronic gadgets while crossing railway tracks and other reasons.
Railways have taken corrective measures like regular announcements through passenger address system at stations urging passengers to use foot over bridges (FOBs), awareness drives against trespassing were conducted, construction of boundary walls, warning signs were erected to prevent accidental deaths on railway tracks. However, people still cross railway tracks for saving time, cutting on commuting time and other reasons.
