Beauty contests are galore and are frequently held in cities and towns. But a rare beauty contest will be organised on June 18 in Kerala where only transgenders will participate in an attempt to eradicate the stigma attached and stereotypes framed on their gender. The 'Queen of Dhwayah 2017' contest was a huge success last year and there is no reason to believe it won't repeat its success this year.
This will be the second year in a row that the event will be organised. The event is held under the banner of Dhwayah Arts and Charitable Society which was founded in 2017 by celebrity make-up artist and actor Renju Renjimar. The stated reason for establishing the Society was to promote cultural activities and foster a sense of pride and unity among the transgender community:

The event will also see a number of celebrities in attendance to celebrate the event. The chief guest will be Malayalam Superstar Mammootty with artists like Jayasurya, Nadhiya, Rima Kallingal and Mamta Mohandas in attendance.
