Princess Eugenie of York, Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter, married her longtime boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank at the Windsor Castle on Friday. The white gown did not have the typical veil and showed off the princess' back surgery scar from the top of her neck to shoulder blades.

She had first revealed the news of her spine surgery by sharing pictures of her X-rays on International Scoliosis Awareness Day (last Saturday of June). The princess captioned the picture saying, "I also want to honour the incredible staff at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital who work tirelessly to save lives and make people better. They made me better and I am delighted to be their patron of the Redevelopment Appeal."

What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine bend sideways forming a slight curve. It is S or C shaped depending on how severe the curve is. While in some cases, the degree of the curve is stable, in others the curve increases over a period time. In cases of mild scoliosis, physiotherapy sessions can lessen the pain, however, in severe scoliosis, it can interfere with breathing and walking patterns of the person. It can also be coupled with severe back pain. Depending on the intensity of the condition which is the curvature of the spine, the doctor recommends surgery.
The princess said that the design of the dress was to honour people who looked after her during her surgery, and to help others with the same condition. She said, "I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that."

According to E! Online, she was wearing a Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos dress and a Grenville Emerald tiara. Without a veil a plunging neckline, the dress also had some other beautiful motifs representing the certain likeness of the Princess. The dress had a thistle to show the couple's fondness for Balmoral and a shamrock showing Eugenie's Ferguson family's Irish background. The couple exchanged vows at St. George's Chapel where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also got married. Princess Eugenie had grabbed headlines when her marriage to a commoner was announced. The 28-year-old met Brooksbank on a skiing trip to Switzerland in 2010. Eugenie works as a director at the London art gallery Hauser and Wirth while the 32-year-old works as a representative for a tequila brand.
Princess Eugenie is ninth in line to the British throne. The wedding was watched over by Queen and Prince Philip along with other members of the royal. Over 850 guests, including over 40 royals and several celebrities were also present at the wedding.
