Claire had told her parents that she did not want a lung transplant when she was 18. CNN reported that her parents had initially accepted her decision. But earlier this year she decided to get the transplantation as her health declined further. Claire even did not have the energy to do her daily chores. Although her parents Melissa Nordquist Yeager and John Wineland were separated when Claire was three years old, they remained friends and partners in her care.
