Have you seen a glass gem corn? A Twitter user posted pictures of his first corn harvest and social media has been left amazed. The pictures show a unique variety of rainbow-coloured corn which has been freshly harvested from the farm. Videos of the sparkling cob show seeds bursting of different colours. Posting photo of the multicoloured cob, Pinto tweeted saying, "Harvested our first corn of this season. I'm blown away!" According to the origin of finding the glass gem, it began with a man named Carl Barnes, who set out to explore his Native American roots. Barnes met Greg Schoen, a fellow farmer in 1994 in Oklahoma who had rainbow-coloured corn in his farm. Barnes gave Schoen some of the rainbow seeds and planted it during the summer. Schoen moved to various places after that leaving the trail of rainbow corn behind. In 2009, Schoen he passed seed to Bill McDorman, who owned an Arizona seed company called Seed Trust. Tweeting video, he writes, "Holy moly!!! This photo is getting lots of engagement. We only have a little bit of corn growing in our little urban garden - all Glass Gem corn. Here is a video of us peeling the corn in the photo."

Pictures of gem corn often go viral on social media making people think it is a photoshopped one, however, it is real. This jewel corn can be grown in the hot climate and can be harvested approximately in 110-120 days after planting. Half kg seeds can be purchased for Rs 2,700.
