Since October 2018, YouTube has been dominated by the competition between independent creator PewDiePie and the Indian Music Corporation T-Series to become the most subscribed to channel on the platform. Ever since the battle was initiated, the race has remained very close, with only 20,000 subscribers currently separating the two YouTube channels. To boost its reach, T-Series recently issued its own plea to its subscriber bases through a Twitter video. It did not take much time that Bollywood personalities joined in to support Bhushan Kumar’s music company over Swedish YouTuber Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. Not just Salman Khan and Arjun Kapoor, actress Sunny Leone too came in extending her support to the Indian Music Company along with #BharatWinsYouTube and the video reached to her 19.3 million fans. In a Twitter video, T-Series’ chairman and managing director, Bhushan Kumar, encouraged people to subscribe the channel and make it become the most subscribed YouTube channel. “We’re on the brink of becoming the world’s biggest @YouTube channel. We can make history. We can make India win,” reads the tweet. YouTuber Felix Kjellberg Raises Over Rs. 1.3 Crores for Indian NGO CRY in a Day.

After Bhushan Kumar’s appeal went viral, actress Sunny Leone too extended her support, urging fans to subscribe T-Series YouTube channel in an Instagram video. “It’s so exciting to know that T Series is on the brink of becoming the biggest YouTube channel in the world! Congratulations Bhushan Kumar! Let’s all subscribe to ensure #BharatWinsYouTube,” writes Leone on her Insta feed.
Sunny Leone Supports T-Series Over PewDiePie
Where T-Series are not leaving any stone unturned to win the ongoing battle, PewDiePie fans criticised Kumar for using nationalist rhetoric to boost his subscribers. And they are not leaving without a fight. Under the banner of the “Subscribe to Pewdiepie” meme, they have used every possible means to support their favourite creator. It is likely that we will see the record flip-flop in a never-ending back-and-forth until the heat death of the universe, but now it appears that the battle is less about the record, and more about everything else.
